high key lighting

Today i learned something from my photography friends about what is "High Key Lighting". High Key Lighting actually is a style of lighting for photography that aims to reduce the lighting ratio present in the scene. This was originally done partly for technological reasons, since early film and television did not deal well with high contrast ratios, but now is used to suggest an upbeat mood. It is often used in sitcoms and comedies. High-key lighting is usually quite homogeneous and free from dark shadows. Below are some of the examples of high key lighting photos:

Moon

Boring night,
I took out my camera with 55-250mm lens.
Set my camera to faster shutter speed, lower aperture and high ISO.
Stand at veranda.
Zoom in in 250mm and captured.
It seen small in screen because the distance quite different for my lens.
i have to crop it out.
Thus, this is final result.

Water Bubble

Is this called water bubble or water bead?
But never mind, don't care on it.
Actually, I like this photo because
the blur background with light and the reflection light on the bubble.
It brings a feeling to me,
a lonely night,
I stay at the home and look through the window.
Outside is raining,
And I seat on the sofa and listening on some soft music.
My mind is under relaxing, comfortable environment.
Erm, I like the feeling.

Evening

An evening day from SS2 to Bandar Damansara to attend a photography talk.
Inside tien how' car, nothing to do on it.
And stuff on the road.
Suddenly found a pretty sky reflected by sun during sunset.
I faster took out my camera and captured it..

Sixology

JJ Lin, Finally he had been released his 6th album which name as Sixology.
Inside the album, JJ has said:

Really long time for JJ to have a new album.
Before, he more concentrated on the drama.

See the light

Recently had read a book called "RICK SAMMON'S complete guide to DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY". This book guiding you how to have a nice photo with different part that you have to notice on it. First at all, after I read the book, I would like the share about the the importance of "seeing the light". According to Rick Sammon said, the first step is be aware of highlight and shadow areas in a scene.

In photography have a term called "value blind". It describe an image that has very little range between light or dark. A value blind viewer doesn't see the difference in the light value in the scene. Fortunetely, we can to learn how to "see the light".

When look for the light, actually photographer want the main subject to be in the highlight area. The reason is everytime our eye is usually drawn to the brightest part of the scene area. Thus, know how to see a light is important for a photo.

A scene's highlight and shadow areas, however, is not enough. There must observe the scene' contrast range (range between light and dark of a medium). If the contrast range is beyond the recordable contrast range of the image sensor, part of the scene will be overexposed or underexposed.

However, we can compress and reduce the scene's brightness range in five ways.
1. recompose the scene or reposition the subject to eliminate areas that are too dark or too light.
2. use a flash to fill in some of the shadows in scene.
3. use a graduated filter to darken the brighter portion of a scene.
4. use a reflector to bounce light onto the dark area of a subject
5. hold a light diffuser over a subject to soften shadows.

Sunway Night

A night in Sunway.
It is a difficult chance to have a night view inside the Sunway Lagoon,
So, it is a golden time to me to shoot on it.
but unfortunately is,
I have no bring my tripod together.
so the photos might be a bit blur
because I have to use the slower shutter to capture the light of the building.
